Sempernaut +/-

Sempernaut is a latin word found in 2 thesaurus and a language book published in 1572, 1580 and 1750. If you go to books.google.com and search for sempernaut, you'll find the 3 books that published the word. Sempernaut (disputatio) 23:29, 28 Decembris 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Sempernaut, "sempernaut" is not a Latin word. The books you mentioned are quasi copies of a Greek dictionary (Hesychii Alexandrini lexicon at archive.org) translated into Latin or other languages. The crucial entry is:
  • ἀειναῦται = aeinautae (Latin transcription), literally translated into two words: "semper nautae" (in English: "perpetual sailers").
If you want to know the complete story, you might visit English Wikipedia: Aeinautae.

You can use the "Move" function under the menue "Tools". --YaganZ (disputatio) 10:15, 12 Ianuarii 2024 (UTC)Reply

I made the change, but I think I messed up and it still shows sempernaut. Can you delete everything I've done and I'll enter "sempernautae" as a Latin word? Thanks.

@Sempernaut, I fixed the wrong move, no problem. The page "sempernautae" is now free for content to be added. When this is done, I'll set up the old page sempernaut for deletion. --YaganZ (disputatio) 13:41, 14 Ianuarii 2024 (UTC)Reply
Revertere ad "sempernautae".
