kiōtō, -ōnis, really?

Linea 1:
Kiōto non Kiōtō?
Hmm... ok, apparently Meacum, a Iaponice みやこ (miyako, caput). That's fine... But given the patterns of borrowing... kyōto has a short final o, which means it shouldn't be an -ō, -ōnis word. (If anything I'd expect/prefer either Kiōtum, -i, cf w:Kiotium (praefectura) or Kiōto indecl.) *sigh* It looks like it's an established word so I can't gripe too much... but is there any precedent for an -ŏ, -ŏnis (or even -ŏ, -ōnis) word, or do we have to have a full declensional assimilation here? —Myces Tiberinus 05:05 nov 14, 2004 (UTC)

:It appears in the Blaeu Atlas of 1662 as Miaco. I can't find evidence for Kyotum in Latin. The link you've posted to the WP is for the prefecture Kiotium, not for the city. --EncycloPetey 18:53, 15 Decembris 2008 (UTC)
Revertere ad "Kyotum".
